The Preaching of the cross.
1 Corinthians 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
Why does Paul preach the cross? Why should we preach the cross? let us read this chapter in the First letter to the Corinthians: 1 Corinthians 1: 17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. 18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. 20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. 22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: 23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; 24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. 25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: 29 That no flesh should glory in his presence. 30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: 31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. |
The cross is an offence to the person who thinks to be right with God on the basis of their own good works.
The cross is a declaration of the failure of humanity and the absolute necessity of the intervention of God Himself to save the lost children of Adam. God The Son had to die and shed His blood to redeem us. In fact He did die,was buried and rose again the third day as He said He would and is now offering the free gift of salvation to all men. Romans 4:25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification. 2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. Many, deceived by the denominations of men, trust in their prayers, confessions, rituals and sacraments as they call it,to be accepted by God,ignoring that we are ALREADY ACCEPTED IN THE BELOVED Ephesians 1:6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. and that having simply trusted His death, burial and resurrection ( 1 Cor 15:3-4 ),we are COMPLETE in CHRIST Colossians 2:10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: May be you have put your trust in the fact that you have accepted Jesus into your heart,as the hirelings of religion preach, that you have been baptised in water and you pay tithes and you go to church regularly.....My friend, please, you really need to set aside religious rules and traditions of men and face the reality of the Gospel of Grace that requires simple faith in what GOD has accomplished for our eternal salvation.
1 Corinthians 1:23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; |

The doctrine of Jesus as God is fundamental to salvation and an essential truth about the character of God. Below is a list of references that confirm the deity of Jesus and offer proof that he has always been and will always be God. Those who diminish, doubt, or deny the divinity of Jesus do so at the destruction of the scriptures.

Romans 3
21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; 22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. 27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. 28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. 29 Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also: 30 Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith. 31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law. |
