CONSIDERATIONS ON THE IMPORTANCE OF PROPHECIES
IN THE KJV 1611-1769
Christ FORETOLD
PROPHECIES SPEAKING OF CHRIST
“As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets,
which have been since the world began”

~ Luke 1:70

1. The Importance of Prophecy
a. God spoke to the world through prophets since the world began - Heb 1:1, Luke 1:70

God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began:
b. Prophecies are a foretelling, not a prediction, calculation, etc – Isa 42:9; Isa 46:9-10
Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare:
before they spring forth I tell you of them.

Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else;
I am God, and there is none like me,
Declaring the end from the beginning,
and from ancient times the things that are not yet done,
saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

c. Estimated 2500 prophecies ~ hundreds about Jesus ~ est. 500 yet future
i. This is unique in all human history, and among other religious books
d. Bible prophecies verify 1) Jesus as God, and the 2) Bible as God’s words
e. These prophecies cannot be calculated, controlled, self-fulfilling, or occur by chance
2. The Content of Prophecy
a. Prophecy spoke of a Messiah to bring salvation through Israel to the world - Ro 1:1-4

Romans 1:1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle,
separated unto the gospel of God,
Romans 1:2 (Which he had promised afore by his prophets
in the holy scriptures,)Romans 1:3 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord,
which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;
Romans 1:4 And declared to be the Son of God with power,
according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:

b. Messiah is Hebrew for Christ which means ‘anointed’ – John 1:41
He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him,
We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.

c. Jesus said “search the scriptures”; they speak of Him – John 5:39; Lu 24:27; Mat 5:17
Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life:
and they are they which testify of me.

d. If Jesus did not fulfill prophecy, then God’s word is questioned, and He is not the Lord
e. Prophecy of Christ tells us who He is, the mystery of Christ tells us who we are
f. Matt-John are inspired for this purpose of prophecy. Did Messiah come?
3. Messianic Prophecies
a. Kinds of prophecies – direct, near-far, types (figure/shadow), unwritten
b. “as it is written”, “so that it would be fulfilled”, “as [the prophet] said”

c. Prophecies surrounding his birth – lineage, place, time, circumstances, of a virgin
d. Prophecies about his identity – Prophet, Son of God, Lord, Holy One, Saviour, Servant
e. Prophecies about his life – forerunner, miracles, character, denial, obedience, mission
f. Prophecies about his death – betrayal, means, events surrounding, thoughts, timing
g. Prophecies about after his death – burial, resurrection, ascension, Holy Spirit, Matthias
h. Prophecies in figure – Adam, Isaac, Joseph, Moses, David, Jonah, Temple, holidays
4. What Does it Mean?
a. All of these prophecies are part of the history of the world, what do we say about this
history? Who was Jesus? What of the Hebrew scriptures?
b. If someone had described your birth, life, death as accurately 1000 yrs prior, what would
you think? How did they know? What power told them? Time machine?
c. Further, the content, clarity, and weight of these prophecies make them of utmost
importance – Christ is God, Christ brings life, Christ the creator, the Saviour, the Truth
d. Christ was foretold; prophecies were fulfilled in Jesus; Jesus is Christ, Lord, and God.
e. This Christ sent Paul – John 13:20; Acts 9:15; Acts 22:21; Rom 1:5-7; 16:25

John 13:20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth
whomsoever I send receiveth me;
and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

THE LORD JESUS CHRIST ACCORDING TO PROPHECY AND MYSTERY.THE LORD OF GLORY.THE REDEEMER.
Christ in His Earthly Ministry to Israel

I am going to examine with the help of the King James Bible 1611-1769
the earthly ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ as recorded in the four Gospels,Matthew,Mark,Luke and John, also called the Red Letters.

First,I need to quote what Paul said in the book of Romans concerning Christ
ministry in the days of His flesh:
Romans 15:8
Now I say that Jesus Christ
was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God,
to confirm the promises made unto the fathers:

Interesting to read what is written in Hebrews :
Hebrews 9:16
For where a testament is, there must also of necessity
be the death of the testator.

Hebrews 9:17
For a testament is of force after men are dead:
otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.

We know that Christ DIED,was BURIED and ROSE again at the end of the four Gospels,so His earthly ministry is to His Nation Israel was
OLD TESTAMENT Scriptures.

Galatians 4:4
But when the fulness of the time was come,
God sent forth his Son, made of a woman,
made under the law,5 To redeem them that were under the law,
that we might receive the adoption of sons.

Christ Himself said:
Matthew 15:24 But he answered and said,
I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

and forbade His 12 Apostles to go to the Samaritans and the Gentiles:

Matthew 10:5
These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying,
Go not into the way of the Gentiles,
and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:
6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.
8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils:
freely ye have received, freely give.

The Apostle Paul tells us in Ephesians 2:11

Wherefore remember,
that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh,
who are called Uncircumcision by that which
is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;
12 That at that time ye were without Christ,
being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel,
and strangers from the covenants of promise,
having no hope, and without God in the world:

We can surely affirm that while we can learn from the Red Letters many important things about our Lord Jesus Christ, that we were not in the audience.

Romans 15:4
For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning,
that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
But we are NOW UNDER GRACE,not UNDER THE LAW.
We are not the replacement of Israel,
we could not follow Jesus according to the Red Letters instructions.
That is why Paul tells us to follow him to follow Christ.

1 Corinthians 4:16 Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.
1 Corinthians 11:1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.
Philippians 3:17
Brethren, be followers together of me,
and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.

WE are GRATEFUL that GOD called Saul of Tarsus, later called PAUL
and gave to him the revelation of the Mystery,
the Gospel of Grace so anyone can be saved now, without Israel,
without the covenants,by grace through faith. Ephesians.2:8,9

Romans 16:25
Now to him that is of power to stablish you
according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ,
according to the revelation of the mystery,
which was kept secret since the world began,

26 But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:
27 To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen.

ALL THE BIBLE IS FOR US,
BUT NOT ALL OF IT IS "TO US" or ABOUT US.
